The World of Sesti

Welcome to the world of Guiseppe Sesti, Castello di Argiano, Montalcino, Siena.
Castello di Argiano is a picturesque and tranqil wine estate of some 250 acres nestling on a hillside in the rich heartland of Tuscany, and has played host to fine winemaking since 1992. Derelict when acquired as a family home by Guiseppe Sesti (pictured), he channelled his passions in life: the moon and stars, opera, his family, and Brunello di Montalcino red wine into developing Castello di Argiano to become a renowned estate for wine production and nurturing his perfectionist attitude to developing the grape.

Time, an essential ingredient, has proven most favourable to the Sesti estate's enviable wine-making capabilities. In addition to the Castello di Argiano wines being organically cultivated, the viticulture and wine making practices followed there have ensured success and international recognition for wines such as Rosso di Montalcino, Grangiovese and Terra di Siena, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with many connoisseurs agreeing that these wines add greatly to the list of creditable merits of the Castello.

Sesti, with his passion, honesty and charisma, and his wines are no strangers to success. Recently the Italian Sommeliers voted his Brunello di Montalcino the seventh best in Italy, and American wine expert Steven Tanzer honoured this fine wine with a commendable mark of 97%

Despite being a newcomer to the forum of international wines available in the UK market, many consider Castello di Argiano to be a sleeping giant. This, in particular, is the opinion of The Winemakers Club, founded in 1999. The Club's aim is to provide finance and support to help establish small, family-owned vineyards producing high quality wines and to introduce their wines to an international market, ensuring that they receive the praise and recognition they duly deserve.

Cobham is preparing to welcome the very best wines from Castello di Argiano with the help of The Winemakers Club and Things Italian, a small specialised outlet which prides itself on bringing not only wine but also the very best of Italian products to an expectant local market, whilst capturing and providing elements of Italy previously unavailable in the area.

Things Italian, located at 65 Portsmouth Road, Cobham, has been fortunate enough to secure a licence to be the only local stockist, and its cellar will house an excellent selection of Sesti's very best. Things Italian will be open from Saturday, 5th October.
