With the weather change in the air, it's time for open fires, snuggly
jumpers and warm autumn colours, so here is a breakdown on what are the
new key words and looks for Autumn 2002.
The 1970s are still a heavy influence this season,
incorporated with design detailing from the 20s through to the 40s to
give it a fresher angle.
White is still a main colour, running across all the
looks, either matched up with simple black, heavy embroidery, or blended
with different whites either through shade or texture of fabric. Another
colour which seems to be appearing a lot is green. From bright bold to
bottle, it is a colour that actually goes with more than you realise.
Try it, it can do a great deal to brighten up a look.
Knits are over sized, shaggy and chunky in all colours
and patterns. Get them big, feel cosy, relax and feel fashionable. Brilliant
for those autumn nights that will soon be drawing in.
Jeans are still a must have basic, the more distressed
the better, but always a faithful garment to match any look from pumps
to high heels, a really versatile garment. It is not so much about the
cut, more about the fabric, so choose a cut that suits your figure and
then hunt for the perfect denim. However, another must have basic is cord
trousers, used in exactly the same way as the your jeans.
Stripy trousers are still around for autumn. Make
sure the stripes lay perfectly straight down your leg. If they pull across
the stomach and hips they will give the allusion you are bigger then you
are, but if they lay straight they will elongate the figure. And if the
hem is millimeters from the floor your legs will look long and thin. Matching
with a plain top from one of the colours of the stripes gives a great
funky look that is easy but colourful.
Black is the new black. This colour is back in a big way this season,
and in a sophisticated sexy way. Pencil skirts, tailored jackets and sexy
straight trousers. The look is all about leather, velvet, buckles, lace,
chiffon and plunging necklines. Accessorise with pointy boots from ankle
length to knee high, dark and mysterious eye make-up with bright red lips.
And if you're feeling ultra vamp hold-ups are a must!
The folk look is a big must for autumn/winter, as it is a step beyond
the gypsy look from the summer, which is now dead so hang onto your belts
for another season. The look has moved into floral prints, embroidery,
feathers and layering of clothing.
To achieve this use your existing wardrobe by mixing colours, textures
and fabrics together. For example, use a summer dress over jeans, teamed
with a fat belt, winter boots, and finish it off with a sheepskin coat
or body warmer.
Our A/W collection is chic and sophisticated with a twist of individuality
through design details enabling the garments to be very wearable but unique.
Sunbeams from the Art Deco era were designer
Ellie's inspiration for this collection. Pleating and paneling details
have been cleverly pattern-cut to flatter the figure as they are cut around
the body. Draping has also been included which softens up the structured
lines that run though out the collection.
