Tell the bride's and groom's parents of the forthcoming marriage and arrange for them to meet.
When shall we tie the knot? Choose the date.
Decide what you wish to spend and draw up a budget.
Discuss with partner and parents who is to pay for what.
Who do you want to/have to invite? Draw up a guest list for ceremony/reception.
Book the venue to take your vows. Church, Register Office, or other Approved Premises e.g. hotel?
Obtain necessary licence.
See minister and arrange for banns to be read.
Arrange music for ceremony.
Hotel, home or marquee? Book the venue for your reception.
Select and ask bridesmaids and pageboys.
Select and ask best man and attendants/ushers.
Arrange for photographer - still or video.
Arrange for wedding cars or other mode of transport.
Arrange music or other entertainment for reception.
Begin to plan honeymoon. Check passports if going abroad.
If necessary arrange a room for your wedding night.
Arrange insurance to cover all eventualities.
Make a list of presents that you would like and choose the retailers for your wedding list.
Choose the bride's dress. Medieval style, Victorian elegance or modern classic?
Choose the outfits for the men. Top hat and tails, a bright waistcoat?
Book the Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies
