Husband and wife team, Mike and Frances opened fishnet-dot.com, a high-tech fish & chip take-away, back in December 2000.
Our main theme was to go high-tech and one thing led to another. The initial idea was to have a computer that would run three 19" monitors displaying the menus, using animated displays and slide shows. This was not only visually pleasing for customers, but practical for special offers, greetings and changing menu content.
The next idea was to have a web site, were customers can place their orders in advance of collection. I registered the Domain Name fishnet-dot.com.
Customers can now read about the nutritional value of Fish and Chips, before clicking on the menu to pre-order food ready for collection at a convenient time. Upon our receipt of the e-mail order it is automatically printed out, replied to and the order booked on our system.
Since we opened, trade has steadily increased with e-mails coming in from surrounding offices at lunchtimes and customers at home in the evening. We have also received e-mail compliments on our food.
